Mystery Dinner Theater in Potsdam

Dog Days Sept 15th at Julian’s

Last chance to get your tickets for the Soar Players’ entertaining and funny mystery dinner theater to be performed this Wednesday at Julian’s  Restaurant 38 Market Street in Potsdam.

Early arrivals can sample some specialty cocktails like the “Dog’s Tail” and enjoy some friendly conversation.  Proceeds will go to fund operations at the Potsdam Animal Shelter.

The play was written for this occasion by Helen Condon and directed by Art Johnson.  Soar players Esther Katz (Mimi Vander Poodle), Elaine Kuracina (Tiffany Loveless), Lorie Gruneisen (Sarah Jessica Barker), Donna Wright (Trudy Cocker), Helen Condon ( Eva Marie St. Bernard), Kathleen Kirschner (Mandy Mutt), Anne Johnson (hostess) and Art Johnson (Detective, Sergeant Brophy) do an outstanding job of entertaining as they stay in “character” and creating a lot of laughs.

Additionally, all 60 persons attending this unique event will also be members of the cast of “Dog Days”.  Your role as a guest is to celebrate the opening of Dr. Joe Boxer’s new veterinary office. As you all wait for the brunch to be served, five women come into the former office to pick up their dogs following surgery.  East Beagle certainly has its secrets and as the women see their perspective bills, we find that manipulation of the charges reveals some of those secrets.  While the six women await the arrival of the police, the theater goers may directly ask them questions concerning their motives for murdering the town’s former vet.

Please note that the community of East Beagle and its residents are purely fictional.  Resemblance to a real community or its residents is purely coincidental.  We have the utmost trust in our local St. Lawrence County veterinarians and would have the deepest concern if any of them take offense of the script, which is certainly a spoof.

Wednesday evening will provide a great gourmet meal for which Julian’s is famous; there will be a ton of laughs; and perhaps, best of all, great benefit to the local Potsdam Animal Shelter—not just for Potsdam, but over ten neighboring townships-- as PHS provides loving care and forever homes to our animals in need.

Remaining tickets are available at Julian’s Restaurant 38 Market St., Potsdam Animal Shelter 17 Madrid Avenue, and Ashley House in Norwood.  Additional information, please call PHS Board President, Bonnie Boyd 353-2847.
