Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, on November 2, 2010 the Potsdam Humane Society was able to officially break ground and commence construction on our new animal shelter at 17 Madrid Avenue in Potsdam. (Click here for more photos of the ground breaking)
Almost half of the one million dollars raised through our "Labor of Love" Campaign came from a generous grant and low interest loan from the US Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Agency. The balance was raised from the generosity of our friends and supporters in St. Lawrence County.
Natty Bumppo, shelter spokes-dog; Scott Collins and Renee Hotte of USDA Rural Development; Potsdam Town Supervisor, Marie Regan; Potsdam Village Mayor, Ron Tischler; Edward Olley, a partner with GYMO Architectural and Engineering; and Scott Loran President of Loran Construction were on hand with members of PHS Board of Directors to get construction underway.
May all our supporters enjoy these photos below and take pride that you are making it possible for us expand our efforts for the humane treatment of animals in our community.
Thank you all!
