Aeon’s Foam Blankets Animal Shelter

E-mail Print PDF

Aeon Heating and Air Conditioning has donated all of the foam insulation blown into the renovated portion of the Potsdam Humane Society’s animal shelter. When the ripping and tearing of the old ceiling was done, it was discovered that there was little insulation in the part which was the original animal shelter on Madrid Avenue.

Thanks to Aeon’s foam insulation gift, the shelter is now nicely protected from the heat of summer and the cold of our North Country winters. This need for foam insulation was not in the construction plan, so funds were not provided for its cost. But with this local business hero coming to the rescue, the new shelter has a “blanket” of foam without the headache of finding additional funds for the project.

This is not the first time that Aeon has come to the rescue when the animals have been in need. Last winter, the heater in the puppy room quit and needed prompt attention. Arriving quickly on the scene, Aeon tried to revive the old unit. When there was no fix, AEON installed a replacement unit and generously donated it to the puppies.

“The dogs and cats don’t know how to thank this AEON, but we sure do!” commented Anne Smith, the shelter’s Executive Director.“We are really touched by the number of businesses and residents of our community who have come forward to help this project move closer to completion. We are expecting that the new shelter will be finished by the first part of July.”

North Country residents have given $500,000 needed to get the project underway, but the new shelter is far from being paid for. In addition to the daily costs of running a larger facility, there is a $400,000 mortgage, which will pay off a USDA loan, covering the second half of the total building cost.

PHS contracts with 11 towns, and its programs reach citizens from all over St Lawrence County. It is a large operation which needs funding from individuals as well as government townships and businesses. For those who have not yet helped out by giving, the shelter staff encourages people to consider giving a monthly donation through PayPal in order to support their worthwhile programs, which serve animals and humans alike.

PHS needs a LITTLE from a LOT of people.PayPal and other means of donating are accessible at their website: potsdamhumanesociety.orgPotsdam Humane Society, 17 Madrid Avenue, is a 501-3© non-profit organization. All donations are income tax deductable.
