Getting Closer—We are 80% of the way towards reaching our goal of $1 million.

(Nov, 2009) The Potsdam Humane Society is now 80% of the way towards reaching its goal of $1 million for its building project to improve the Potsdam Animal Shelter.

Jason and Tracy (Grant) Adle are helping to close this gap by providing a $10,000 memorial gift to name the new outdoor exercise area for Tracy’s father, Fay C. Grant, Jr. Tracy, a Potsdam native, returned to the area in 2004 and has become an active member of the PHS board of directors. She and her husband own “Your Hometown, Inc.”, work as insurance adjusters.

animal companions, Dorie (circling her family), Piper (L on bench
and Shark (next to Jason). Their generous memorial gift will ensure
other dogs like them a better quality of life by providing the money
for the new dog exercise area, which will be built near the new wing
of the renovated animal shelter on Madrid Avenue in Potsdam.

Tracy says, “One way or another I learned my love and respect for animals from my father, Fay C. Grant, Jr. who lived and died with his beloved animals always nearby. His siblings, Florence Conger, Elsie Lewis, Alice Gilmore, Jay Grant, Robert Grant, and Barbara Patraw always supported the animals as members of the Grant family.

I truly believe that by supporting the efforts of the Potsdam Humane Society, we are dramatically improving the lives of many animals and giving our next generation an opportunity to learn to love and respect their animal companions. With this in mind, our donation is given in honor of my father, Fay C. Grant, Jr., and his siblings with love.”

Everyone in the community is invited to attach a name plaque to trees, benches, kennels and other features in honor or memory of loved ones. Contributions of all amounts are welcome and necessary to help fund the new animal shelter. See our earlier press release here for more information.
