Theo Cannamela raises $ for the Maresca challenge

Theo Cannamela hosted a dance party and raised $231.00 dollars for
the Maresca $60,0000 fundraising challenge (see news item below).

   Thank you Theo!

Maresca's Announce $120K Valentine Challenge

Barbara and Dr. Michael Maresca have made Valentine’s Day
extra special for the animals at the Potsdam Humane Society.
Their heartfelt generous donation of $60,000 will help PHS
reach its animal shelter building goal this year.
The Marescas challenge the people of the St. Lawrence County
Community to match their $60,000 gift within the next 60 days.
When the gift is matched, the Marescas will then give a second
$60,000 gift! This is how it computes:

        $60K + $60K + $60K = Building Begins when the weather breaks.

Below, Barbara and Dr. Michael Maresca, along with Anne Smith, director
and animal behavior specialist at the PHS Animal Shelter, and
Bonnie Boyd, PHS Board President, share a happy time as the
Marescas announce their $120,000 Valentine challenge gift. They
are hoping that after years of working to raise funds, we can
make it in the next 60 days to the finish line and get the new
shelter built when the weather allows construction to begin.

Below, Barbara Maresca and Natty Bumppo (canine helper of the shelter
staff) accompanied by Dr. Michael Maresca check out the animals
at the shelter and the progress of the "Labor of Love" Capital
Campaign thermometer. They are hoping the community will accept
their $120,000 matching gift challenge and get the Capital
Campaign funds to the top, which will make construction of the
   new shelter start soon.

Capital Campaign Business Challege Kick-off

Local businesses are stepping up to the $20,000 challenge set by
the "Labor of Love" Capital Campaign of the Potsdam Humane Society.
Thanks to these animal loving small businesses, nearly half of the
   challenge has been met.

This business challenge will provide the funds for the "Chad
Fuller Memorial" Community room in the new shelter. Chad
gave the supreme sacrifice for his country in August of 2003 while
serving in Afghanistan. A Potsdam native, Chad often volunteered at
the shelter while going to Potsdam High School.

These business leaders are now asking other businesses to help
PHS reach the finish line. No gift is insignificant.

Brendon Owney makes donation for the animals

Brendon Owney stopped by the shelter on Jan 16th to drop off a
donation of dog food and treats. He did not do it for any special
occasion - he just wanted to give something to the animals. Below
is Brendon holding one of our Walker Hound Puppies that are
   available for adoption.

   Thank you Brendon!

January 4th meeting. PHS also wishes to extend a special thank you
to legislators Laura Perry and Fred Morrill for their strong support
   of this resolution.

Parishville-Hopkinton 3rd/4th graders give to PHS

Third and fourth graders at Parishville Hopkinton Central School
made "rainbow crayons" to sell to raise money for the Potsdam Humane
Society's Capital Project. Crayon sales and donations allowed Erica
Sloan and Hannah Pecolar to present a check of $400 to PHS board
   member, Amber Lindsey.

   Thank you all!
