Dear Readers,

Scratch and itch…you never itched like I did last August! I am Jumbo a 7 year-old Newfy who came from Colton to the Potsdam animal shelter (see my picture below). After being diagnosed with "Sarcoptic Mange" at the vet’s office, I was brought back to the shelter with my medication. Now in case you don’t know, Sarcoptic Mange is very contagious, so you can imagine the problem the shelter had. There was no place to isolate me from the other animals that had not lost their hair to this disease. Let me tell you, the shelter needs some isolated areas soon! Areas of isolation are in the plans for the new building, but they can’t come too soon.

But back to my story… Fortunately for everyone, a wonderful woman from Norwood offered to foster me at her home until my treatment was complete. I don’t want to appear vane, but I am beautiful now that I am mange-free and healthy. Best of all, I found my loving forever-home!

Woof!

Jumbo, the Newfy
