PHS earns $5K from zootoo but doesn't make final top-10
The Potsdam Humane Society was not selected as one of the
finalists in the Zootoo Million Dollar Makeover Contest announced
in Las Vegas on April 7th, but we still feel like winners. PHS won
$5,000 as a result of the community voting them in to the list of
top 20 shelters out of over 2900 participants nationwide.

Linda Camaano and Anne Smith Travel to ZooToo Awards
Linda Caamano and Anne Smith will be traveling to Las Vegas on
Monday, April 6th. A representative from all top 20 shelters must
be on stage to receive their prize and to learn if they are a top 10
finalist. PHS has already won $5000 by finishing in the top 20, but
if they are selected as one of the top 10 finalists, the prize
doubles to $10,000.
"No matter what happens in Vegas, we are winners", said Bonnie
Boyd, President of the Potsdam Humane Society. "North Country
people needto be thanked over and over for making all of this
possible. The animal shelter belongs to the community and the
community has shown, with the help of Zootoo, that when
everyone works together great things are possible. Many
fundraisers are planned for the coming months. People are
fired up to help the animals. As in Vegas, we are on a roll!"

♥ Zootoo Founder Visits PHS Animal Shelter
Hundreds rallied in support of the Potsdam Humane Society
on March 17, 2009 as officials from Zootoo visited our local
shelter. This is part of a million dollar shelter makeover contest
sponsored by zootoo.com, a website dedicated to bringing pet
lovers together and raising awareness of local shelters by
encouraging local communities to become more involved in and
committed to the welfare of homeless animals.

The March 17th event was attended by hundreds of local
residents, college students, school age students from Potsdam,
Madrid, Lisbon, Canton and Clarkson employees. All were there
to welcome Richard Thompson, the founder of Zootoo. This
visit was part of his nationwide tour of the top 20 semi-finalists
in the makeover contest.

The Potsdam Humane Society will be represented in Las Vegas on
April 7 when the top 10 finalists will be announced. Finalists are
chosen based on the needs of the shelter, and, most importantly,
by the level of support that the community shows for its shelter,
and the programs and outreach that each shelter provides to its
community. Supporters can continue to increase the chances of
the Potsdam Humane Society being chosen as a top 10 finalist by
logging on to zootoo.com, becoming a member, and participating
on the site by writing reviews of the shelter, your experiences,
how great the need is for renovation and expansion of the
current facility, and the general support this community has for
thePotsdam Humane Society animal shelter.
